Operatives of the Nigerian police have arrested a 27-year-old man, Abba Suleiman, for killing a commercial tricycle operator and carting away the vehicle in Adamawa State.

The incident happened at Kogin-Tipper in the Gombi Local Government Area of the state, according to the police.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest to Saharareporters on Monday.

Nguroje said Suleiman was intercepted by the operatives of the command with the tricycle suspected to have been stolen, while on his way to dispose it in Yola, the Adamawa State capital on July 20, 2023.

"Investigation further reveals that, the suspect connived with two others (now at large), deceived a middle aged Saifullahi Rufai (A K A Dan Smally) to take them to Kogin-Tipper, a place situated at a remote side of Gombi Town.

"Unfortunately upon arrival, they hit the cyclist with a heavy stick on his head until they were sure he was dead and robbed him of the tricycle.

"The Commissioner of Police has directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of CID (Criminal Investigation Department) to take over investigation, arrest the fleeing suspects and diligently prosecute them," Nguroje said.
