Youths Burn Nigerian Singer, Davido’s Poster In Borno, Demand Apology Over ‘Offensive’ Music Video

Davido posted the 45-second long video clip of Logos Olori’s new song, ‘Jaye Lo,’ on Twitter on Friday, to promote the song ahead of the official release.

Some youths on Tuesday set a poster of popular singer, David Adeleke better known as Davido ablaze in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital to demonstrate their grievances against the controversial video clip shared recently on his Twitter account.

 

Davido posted the 45-second long video clip of Logos Olori’s new song, ‘Jaye Lo,’ on Twitter on Friday, to promote the song ahead of the official release.

 

However, the video generated controversy as many Muslims including Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, attacked the music superstar over the video. 

 

The critics described the music video portraying some men to be praying and dancing in front of a mosque as disrespectful. 

 

Though many of Davido’s fans rose to his defence, many Muslims considered the video offensive to their religion and asked that it should be taken down. 

 

They also asked Davido to apologise to his Muslim fans.

 

Yielding to the pressure, SaharaReporters’ check on Davido’s social media pages including Twitter and Instagram on Monday morning showed that the video had been deleted. 

 

However, the youths on Tuesday took the streets of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to demonstrate their grievances against the controversial video clip famous singer.

 

In a video making the rounds on social media, which was posted by Sultan (@Sarki_sultan), some youths in Maiduguri are seen setting on fire a poster of the singer and demanded that the singer should apologise to the Muslim community.
