SaharaReporters gathered that the Nigerian government committee called for the meeting following the notice of nationwide strike issued by the NLC earlier on Wednesday.
While the NLC team was headed by its national president, Joe Ajaero, the TUC team was headed by its president, Festus Osifo.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported the NLC gave the President Bola Tinubu-led government seven days to reverse all policies considered to be anti-masses.

It vowed to proceed on a nationwide strike from August 2 if the government fails to reverse the controversial policies which include the removal of fuel subsidy that has led to hikes in the price of Premium Motor Spirit otherwise known as petrol.
In preparation for the strike, the umbrella body of Nigerian workers directed its affiliates and state councils to mobilise workers, civil society organisations, and other Nigerians for enduring strike action and mass protests.

The mass action commence should the government fail to meet its demands, Ben Upah, the NLC spokesperson said on Wednesday.
