Nigerian Government Evacuates Another Batch Of Citizens From Sudan, Returnees Now 2865

The Nigerian government has confirmed the evacuation of another batch of stranded Nigerians from Sudan.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCom) which confirmed the evacuation on Friday said that a total number of 205 of the evacuees from Sudan arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Pilgrims terminal in Abuja on Friday at exactly 12.15pm.

According to the commission, the evacuees which comprised of 160 adults and 45 minors and infants were received by the Nigerian government officials from NIDCom, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Refugees Commission, Immigration, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Ministries of Foreign Affairs as well as Environment.

The Commission said that the evacuees were profiled, fed and provided transportation for, especially the majority going to Kano, Katsina, Kaduna and Borno states.

According to the commission, "To date, a total of 2,865 evacuees have been transported back to Nigeria from the war torn Sudan."
