Windstorm Slowly Moves Toward Nigeria From Cameroon, Chad, To Cause Heavy Rainfall

According to the Nigerian agency, the wind will precipitate heavy rainfall. 

A windstorm is slowly moving toward Nigeria from neighbouring Cameroon, the National Emergency Management Agency said on Tuesday.

Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA Lagos territorial coordinator, who shared a map depicting how the wind hovers over part of Cameroon and Chad, said the wind will get to Lagos, Southwest Nigeria by Sunday or Monday. 

The parts of Nigeria that will be first hit are Gombe city in Gombe State; Potiskum and Gashua in Yobe State and Jalingo in Taraba State. 

"Slow moving storm over Cameroon into Nigeria. The wind will get to Lagos latest by Sunday or Monday.

"From Lagos, it will move on for two or three weeks before it gathers strength to cause problems in the US or thereabouts. 

"The wind movement will precipitate heavy rainfall. September will be wetter than August.

We are looking at serious rainfall in September up till mid-October," he said.
