Police Arrest 10 Over Killing Of Nigerian University Student Found In Shallow Grave

The police in Ekiti State, southwest Nigeria, say they have arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of Atanda Modupe Deborah, a nursing student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).

 

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the management of the school had officially announced the death of the student who went missing on Monday.

 

The University said that an investigation had since been launched to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death with a view to bringing her killers to justice.

The 100-level nursing student in stream A, Faculty of Basic Medical Science, went missing after a night class on Monday, September 4, 2023.

 

Her roommates declared her missing when she did not return from the night class. Subsequently, a search was launched and on Wednesday, September 6, her body was found buried in a shallow grave behind the Faculty of Basic Medical Science.

 

Announcing the arrest of 10 suspects in connection with her death, the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, said the killer(s) would be brought to justice.

 

While condemning the gruesome murder of the young lady, Abutu appealed to members of the public to remain calm.

 

Abutu offered his condolences to the family of the deceased and assured them of the police’s commitment to find her killers.
