A pregnant woman, her two children and one other passenger have been reported dead in the Ago Palace Way of Okota in Lagos State after a car rammed into a tricycle popularly known as Keke Napep.

A user of X (formerly Twitter), #tobe_stevee who disclosed this on his page on Tuesday, explained that the tragic incident occurred while a policeman and the driver of the car were dragging the steering wheel of the car while in motion, during which, they lost control of the car and hit a tricycle carrying some passengers.

The X user said that the driver was arrested by the police officers and one of the policemen got into the car while others followed. But as they headed for the police station, reaching the Okota Roundabout, the driver decided to play tricks and diverted to Ago Palace Way, hence, the police officer inside the car started dragging the steering with him leading to the terrible accident.

"Something happened at my area this morning. A driver was arrested by the police, one of them got into his car, while the others followed, on the way to the station, at the Okota roundabout, the driver decided to play a fast one and diverted to Ago Palace Way.

"While in motion, the police man and driver began to contest for the steering wheel. Eventually they both lost control and the car hit a tricycle (keke). In the tricycle, A woman with her two kids and the rider. All of them died. May their soul Rest In Peace.

"Now passersby begin to deliberate on the issue and everyone pointed blames at the police for not effectively carrying out their duties thus endangering lives in the process.

"The police need to do better… However being civilized as citizens is also something we need to look at as well. Both the police and the driver should be jailed,” the X user wrote.
