Nigerian senate has entered a closed door session after a President Bola Tinubu's ministerial nominee, Balarabe Abbas, collapsed at the senate Chamber during screening on Wednesday in Abuja.

Abba, a Ministerial nominee from Kaduna State, was nominated by President Tinubu replacement of immediate past Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, whose nomination was rejected by the Senate.

SaharaReporters had reported that President Bola Tinubu had sent his name alongside those of two others to the Senate on Tuesday.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio had read the letter the president sent and subsequently announced that the nominees will be screened on Wednesday.

Abbas had spoken for several minutes during his screening before falling to the floor with several lawmakers rushing to his aid.

The Kaduna nominee was the second to be screened, and had finished making his presentation to the lawmakers.

It was when he was about taken questions from the lawmakers that he stumbled and fell to the floor.

Following the development, the Senate went into closed door session, while efforts are being made to revive the Abbas who is still inside the chamber battling survival.
