There was a commotion at the Customary Court in Obukpa town in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State on Thursday as two lawyers got into a fight.

A video posted on YouTube by Daily Post captured the moment the two legal practitioners lifted their chairs during the scuffle as other lawyers in the room made efforts to separate them.

One of the fighters is heard in the video saying, “He is a very small boy… He is a mad man.”

“Touch me again,” The second lawyer replied.

“Who touched you? Look at this mad man,” the first lawyer said.

One of them later walked out of the courtroom.

“Look at you. You have bleached yourself like a fool. You have bleached yourself like a woman,” the second lawyer said as his colleague retreated.

At the time of filling this report, SaharaReporters could not independently verify what led to the scuffle. However, their action is against the professional ethics and conduct usually being preached by the Nigerian Bar Association.

For instance, in July 2021, the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) sanctioned 11 lawyers for various acts of professional misconduct.

In 2018, the LPDC also disbarred seven lawyers and suspended 12 others for the same offence.
