Mosadoluwa is facing criminal and felony charges before the Chief Magistrate Court, Oshodi.
Some public interest lawyers under the aegis of Lawyers for Reform Group (LRG), have appealed to the Attorney General of Lagos State, Lawal Pedro, SAN, to take over the prosecution of the alleged land-grabber, Abdullahi Saheed Mosadoluwa, aka Ibile.
Mosadoluwa is facing criminal and felony charges before the Chief Magistrate Court, Oshodi.
The group in a letter to the Attorney General, dated October 12, 2023, and signed by Aare Oladotun Hassan, Esq, said the appeal for him to personally take over the case was to ensure that justice is served in the case.
Titled: "Request For Attorney General To Take Over The Prosecution In The Honourable Attorney General Vs. Abdullahi Saheed Mosadoluwa And Others With Suit Nos. 154/2023 And 155/2023 Pending Before Chief Magistrate Court, Oshodi, Lagos," the group expressed surprise that the Magistrate granted bail to the alleged land-grabber even though the offences on the charge sheets are capital offences.
The lawyers said, "With profound respect Sir, our legal service has been retained by Mr. Shamsideen Oluwa, Mr. Sunday Olabayo, Mr. Lawal Ibrahim, Mr. Gbenga Demunia, Mr. Idowu Muhajeed, Mr. Kunle Adegun, Mr. Daniel Etim, Kazeem Famuyiwa, Mustapha Olasile, Abbey Owolabi, Odukoya Oludare, Rasaq Tayo and Mr. Dare Majekodunmi.
"The above listed people are the nominal complaints in the pending criminal cases between the Honourable Attorney General Vs Abdullahi Saheed Mosadoluwa, who is a renowned law grabber with zero respect for government, police institution and law. The cases are currently pending before Magistrate Adesanya of Oshodi Magistrate Court."
It added, "The facts of this case call for the urgent involvement of your good office and dire need to take over this case for the same not to be left to the police prosecutors at the Magistrate Court. The facts of the case involved attempted murder, kidnapping, land grabbing, possession of arms, conspiracy and others.
"All these are shown on the charge sheet but the Learned trial Magistrate did not remand the accused till the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
"The Learned Magistrate has chosen to exercise jurisdiction and granted bail to the land grabber even when the offences on the charge sheets are capital offences copy of the charge sheet is hereby attached to this letter.
"Save this case, a quick search of the name Saheed Mosadoluwa (Ibile) on the internet will show your good office series of social media outcries by people of different class and caliber whose law has been gabbed by this accused.
"We posit that this is a very important case that deserves the highest level of attention and we pray that you exercise your power under Section 211 of the 1999 Constitution (As amended) to take over the prosecution of this case forthwith.”
"We are grateful for your kind indulgence and we shall be available to make further representation and supply further evidence if need be," the letter read.
