In a document made available to SaharaReporters on Wednesday morning by one of Tani Olohun’s lawyers, Adedamola Solesi, the detained traditional worshipper was slammed with three fresh defamation charges by another Islamic Cleric, Alfa Labeeb Lagbaji in another Kwara Magistrates Court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital.
A new criminal charge has been brought against Adegbola Abdulazeez, an Isese (indigenous religion) practitioner and activist, also known as Tani Olohun in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital.
In a document made available to SaharaReporters on Wednesday morning by one of Tani Olohun’s lawyers, Adedamola Solesi, the detained traditional worshipper was slammed with three fresh defamation charges by another Islamic Cleric, Alfa Labeeb Lagbaji in another Kwara Magistrates Court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital.
In the document written by counsel, Mr Taofiq Olateju on behalf of Lagbaji, Tani Olohun was alleged to have used social media – Facebook and YouTube to blackmail his client.
Tani Olohun, according to Olateju, utilised social media to blackmail and discredit Labeeb.
He further stated that Tani Olohun posted on social media that Labeeb took advantage of a mentally ill woman who was brought to him for healing and had carnal knowledge of her in an unfinished building.
The document reads “We are the ATTORNEY acting for SHEIKH HAMMAD LABEEB herein refers to as our client. We have his instruction to present this direct criminal complaint of Defamation of Character injurious falsehood and Conduct Likely to Cause Breach of Peace against MR AZEEZ ADEGBOLA TANI OLOHUN who is a notorious blackmailer on Social Media. And he has used his FACEBOOK Page and other social media handles to attack and defame many prominent figures in the society and our clients renowned ISLAMIC Scholar is one of his victims the effect of his conducts on the life and image of our client makes him to present this Direct Criminal Complaint against him.
“It is the brief of our CLIENT and it is is herein presented that:- Our client SHEIKH HAMMAD LABEEB an ISLAMIC cleric, teacher and preacher f repute who has students and followers in Nigeria and outside Nigeria one “notorious blackmailer who joy in doing so through his social medial handles such as Facebook, Youtube and the likes MR AZEEZ ADEGBOLA launched several defamatory videos which were deliberately launched with intent to defame our client4In one of the videos launched against our client below are few of the defamatory falsehood paddled against our client (which are FALSE) - "Our client attempted to forcefully had sexual intercourse with a mad woman brought to him for treatment, when he took her to an uncompleted building" Our client took the woman who brought the mad woman for spiritual treatment to an uncompleted building where he had sexual intercourse with her."
“The videos where the above defamatory falsehood were paddled and launched on internet are now being accessed and watched by millions of viewers through the Facebook pages and Youtube of MRAZEEZ ADEGBOLA which is named "TANI OLOUN". They were already shared to thousands of other pages which make their viewers to grow in thousands every day.
“Our client has a bright image which he worked for over decades. He also has a family name which is highly respected and trusted within ILORIN and all over the world. SADLYthese images being injured by the deliberate defamatory ges are being videos made and launched by MR AZEEZ ADEGBOLA (TANI- OLOUN) and such conducts are violation of the extant Criminal Laws.
“And before MRAZEEZ ADEGBOLA, (TANI-OLOUN) served our client with defamatory videos that remain dents on the white garment of our client; he has done same to so many prominent ISLAMIC Preachers and teachers,” the document reads.
