Nigerian Military Says Troops Killed Six Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno As 23-Year-Old Commander Surrendered

Troops of Sector 3 under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have killed six terrorists in a counter-ambush in the Binduldul area of Borno State, Nigeria.

The Military Public Information Officer - N'djamena, Chad, Lt Col Abubakar Abdullahi, who made this known in a statement on Thursday said that the troops recovered two PKT guns, five AK-47 rifles, three AK-47 Magazines and 239 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.

“This seizure has dealt a heavy blow to the terrorist network and significantly disrupted their activities in the area.

“Sadly, two brave soldiers sustained injuries during the operation but are in stable condition and are receiving medical attention. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and their families, we wish them a speedy and full recovery,” Colonel Abdullahi.

In a related development, the military spokesperson stated that on October 17, 2023, a 23-year-old Bulama Bukar, who claimed to be a Commander of Boko Haram at the terrorists Camp Tafkin Chadi located in Gilima village of Abadam Local Government, surrendered to troops in the Gubio area of Borno State.

According to the statement, Bukar’s voluntary surrender was facilitated by the Borno State government’s effort.

Colonel Abdullahi said that “Upon surrendering, Bulama Bukar handed over one AK-47 Rifle, five Magazines, 44 7.62 millimeter Special Ammunition and one motorcycle, alongside other items. This surrender and the recovery of the cache of arms will undoubtedly motivate his other colleagues to lay down arms towards a more secure region.

“The Force Commander, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, commends the bravery and dedication of troops in the successful execution of these operations adding that MNJTF remains committed to working closely with local authorities and the international community to restore peace and security in the Lake Chad basin region.”
