Nigeria Police Arrest Cult Leader On Most Wanted List In Anambra

Okafor-Ama is accused of being the ringleader of a cult group notorious for terrorising residents of the town and neighbouring communities and maiming and killing victims.

The police in Anambra, southeast Nigeria have arrested an alleged cultist identified as Obioma Okafor-Ama. 

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, who made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka, said that Okafor-Ama, popularly known as Alagbon, has been on the command’s most wanted list for allegedly terrorising Nise community in the Awka South Local Government Area of the state.

The police commissioner on Friday said Okafor-Ama was arrested on October 19 by personnel of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, in his hideout in Nise after days of intelligence gathering.

According to Adeoye, the suspect is in police custody and will be charged after the conclusion of an investigation.

Okafor-Ama is accused of being the ringleader of a cult group notorious for terrorising residents of the town and neighbouring communities and maiming and killing victims.

The NAN also quoted a source in the force as saying, “The notorious cultist and his gang have been on the wanted list of police for a long time.

“Alagbon is part of the group responsible for several cult-related killings in Awka.

“We were happy and jubilating when we heard the news of his arrest.”
