Kidnapped Trust TV Journalist, Nten Ekpang, 11 Others Regain Freedom

He was kidnapped alongside other passengers at a village near Lokoja while on his way back to Abuja, after taking his family for a holiday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

Nten Ekpang, a journalist with Trust TV, an online television who was kidnapped on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, has regained his freedom alongside 11 others.

Ekpang was released in the early hours of Wednesday 8, 2023 by his abductors in a bush near Lokoja in Kogi State where he was able to navigate his way to the town.

He was kidnapped alongside other passengers at a village near Lokoja while on his way back to Abuja, after taking his family for a holiday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The abductors had demanded a ransom of N10 million before he could be released when they contacted his family.

However, the family considered to be outrageous and pleaded for reduction.

SaharaReporters gathered that the driver of the bus which Ekpang had boarded was released immediately by the kidnappers when the incident happened.

The transport company was said to have contacted the police in Lokoja for a rescue operation.

However, SaharaReporters cannot not ascertain if the police were involved in the rescue operation.

There have been several cases of kidnapping along Abuja-Kogi Road.
