The situation has caused tension and confusion in the area.
Armed policemen have sealed the head office of Abuja Markets Management Ltd (AMML) located in Gudu, the nation’s capital.
This comes despite subsisting court orders of the Federal High Court and National Industrial Court restraining the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike from doing so.
SaharaReporters gathered that police arrived on the premises of the building in the early hours of Friday like a commando operation, preventing workers from gaining access to the building.
The situation has caused tension and confusion in the area.
This comes barely a few days after the National Industrial Court commenced contempt proceedings against the minister with regard to the matter concerning the headship of the agency, which is still pending before the courts.
The minister allegedly disregarded a series of court orders that affirmed Alhaji Abubakar Farouk as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Abuja Markets Management Limited (AMML).
This followed the decision of the minister to include AMML in the list of heads of agencies asked to vacate their seats on September 27, 2023.
Also joined in the contempt charges for which all parties involved have been served are Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL), former acting Managing Director of AMML, Engineer Yakubu Abbas and the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA).
