Nigeria Police Detain Father Of Boy In Viral ‘Mummy Calm Down’ Video Over Mother’s Suicide In Edo

The Nigeria Police Force has detained the husband of Toluige Olokoobi, the mother to Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola, the little boy who inspired the viral “mummy be calming down” video.

This was confirmed to SaharaReporters in a telephone conversation with Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesperson for the Edo State police command on Friday morning.

The police PPRO said, “Yes, the husband has been detained by the homicide section of Edo State Command pending investigation on the matter.”

Toluige Olokoobi reportedly committed suicide on Wednesday, leaving behind her husband and three children.

An X user whose handle is Samuel@sammydo214, shared the sad news and revealed that he was at the scene on Monday afternoon, November 6. The X user said she took her life without speaking to anyone about her problems.

It was reported that the ugly incident happened in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

His post read, “The woman in the viral Mummy Calm Down video has just committed suicide here in Benin. She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left 3 kids for her husband including the popular Mummy Calm down boy.’’

In 2020, a video showing the little boy on his knees frantically pleading with his mother to “calm down’ after offending her went viral.

In the video, the little boy is seen crying and begging his mother to ‘calm down and rest a little’ before taking any action against him.

The boy who was four years old at the time became an instant social media sensation after the video went viral.
