Nigerian Woman Arrested In India With Over N411Million Illicit Drugs

Banaskantha district's superintendent of police, Akshayraj Makwana, said that the accused, Nwakaego Paul, who resided in Delhi, was reportedly en route to Mumbai to deliver the contraband, according to a Times Of India report.

The Banaskantha police in Gujarat, India have arrested a Nigerian woman, Nwakaego Paul, and seized a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, a prohibited psychotropic substance, valued at Rs 4.26 crore (about N411 million).

Banaskantha district's superintendent of police, Akshayraj Makwana, said that the accused, Nwakaego Paul, who resided in Delhi, was reportedly en route to Mumbai to deliver the contraband, according to a Times Of India report.

The arrest occurred during a late-night interception on Tuesday when Paul was travelling aboard a private luxury bus.

Acting on a credible tip-off, the police halted the bus at the Amirgadh check-post as it entered the district from Rajasthan.

During the search, law enforcement discovered 4.26kg of methamphetamine in her possession.

Makwana stated that she had procured the drugs from an undisclosed source in Delhi.

Further investigations are underway to uncover her connections and the drug's origin, according to the police.

The police investigation has revealed that Nwakaego Paul arrived in India in 2021 on a two-month visa and had been residing in the Deepak Vihar area of Delhi.
