BREAKING: Governor Uzodimma Leads By Winning 20 Out Of Imo’s 27 Council Areas

Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in early lead in the Imo State governorship election.

He has won 20 out of the 27 local government results so far.

The collation of results for the election is currently ongoing at the State Collation Centre.

It started around 2 a.m. on Sunday in Owerri, the state capital.

Eighteen parties fielded candidates in the election but Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress has won in 20 out of the 27 local government areas in the state.

Others considered to be his main challengers are Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Achonu Nneji of the Labour Party and Jack Ogunewe of the Action Alliance.

As of the time of filing this report at 7.15 am, Uzodimma had won in the 20 local government areas so far announced.

Uzodimma has got a total of 429, 518 votes across the 20 LGAs so far announced by the electoral umpire.

These are Oru West, Owerri North, Obowo, Nwangele, Orsu, Owerri Municipal, Okigwe, Ideato South, Onuimo, Ngor Okpala, Oru East, Isu, Nkwere, Ahiazu Mbaise, Owerri West, Isiala Mbano, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Oguta, Aboh Mbaise and Njaba.

There are seven LGAs left but Uzodimma has won in all the LGAs so far announced.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof Abayomi Fasina, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Oye-Ekiti, in Ekiti state announced a 30-minute break to enable some LG Returning Officers to reconcile their results.
