Meanwhile, sources said President Bola Tinubu would also be meeting with aides of the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to resolve the leadership crisis in the state.

The Ondo State House of Assembly members will hold a plenary session today (Friday) to discuss the issues between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and a possible change of leadership.

According to PUNCH, the meeting will likely hold by 2pm on Friday and will be attended by major stakeholders, including members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, among others.

The meeting comes barely two days after Ondo State elders and leaders called on the President to urgently intervene in the constitutional crisis in the state and avert the looming breakdown of law and order.

In a letter addressed to the President and signed by the convener, Reuben Fasoranti, and the secretary, Bakkita Bello, the elders urged the State House of Assembly to impeach neither the Governor nor his Deputy Governor.

“All unelected persons should allow the three arms of government to find a lasting solution to the current crisis,” they had appealed.

A source noted that some of the lawmakers may not be present at today's session due to disagreements over Aiyedatiwa.

He also stated that today's meeting had the approval of the All Progressives Congress National Secretariat.

The source was quoted as saying, “The lawmakers are ready to meet today (Friday). One of the agenda of the sitting is the declaration of Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the acting governor. Though some of the lawmakers may not be at the meeting today because they are not in support of Aiyedatiwa becoming an acting governor the national leadership of the APC knows about and has approved the meeting. So they may declare Aiyedatiwa acting governor today.”

When contacted, one of the lawmakers and Chairman, House Committee on Information, Mr Olatunji Oshati, confirmed the development but could not confirm if Aiyedatiwa would be declared an acting governor or not.
