Sowore, Ozekhome, Shehu Sani, Nweke Jnr, Others Grace Activist, Deji Adeyanju’s Wedding In Abuja

Deji and his wife, Nana tied the knot and exchanged vows at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Center before family members, friends, top politicians, members of civil society groups and activists who had gathered to witness the occasion.

Nigerians from all walks of life including human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, constitutional lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha and popular socialite, Obi Cubana on Saturday stormed Abuja to attend the wedding of Deji Adeyanju, a social media influencer and human rights crusader.

Deji and his wife, Nana tied the knot and exchanged vows at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Center before family members, friends, top politicians, members of civil society groups and activists who had gathered to witness the occasion.

The hall of the conference centre was packed as well-wishers struggled to catch a glimpse of the couple.

Some others in attendance were a former Minister of Information, Frank Nweke Jnr, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Shehu Sani, National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Dickson Akoh, former Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osita Chidoka, former Publicity Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh and National Secretary of the African Action Congress (AAC), Ina Okopi-Aqu.

Others include human rights lawyers, Inibehe Efiong and Samuel Ihensekhien, popular TV personality, Seun Okinbaloye, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, and Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

The chairman of the occasion, who is also a National Commissioner in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sani Adam, described Adeyanju as a man of courage, intelligence and honour, who is passionate about speaking truth to power for the stability of the country.

He said the activist had contributed immensely both on social media and in real time to influence the youths positively for the betterment of the country in the area of nation-building, leadership roles and acts of patriotism.

He said, “I am here for two reasons, Deji Adeyanju was my student. He is very intelligent and committed. He is an activist; he has a passion for Nigeria. He loves Nigeria and he has contributed immensely in stabilizing this country and in influencing the youths to grow this country.

“He is one of the greatest social media influencers and he is highly respected. He is brilliant, innovative and creative. I am proud to associate with Deji Adeyanju and his wife. He is a lucky person and the bride is extremely lucky to have Deji as her husband and he should also be happy to have you as his wife.

“Looking at the personalities here to identify with Adeyanju and his wife, you will agree with me that the couple deserve every respect and we are grateful today that Nigerians turned up to witness this very impressive occasion.”

A popular Nigerian artist, Chinedu Okoli otherwise known as Flavour, thrilled the guests with a stunning performance while the couple danced to his rhythmic tunes.

Deji is a Nigerian activist who has led several protests against the Nigerian government and has been arrested several times for his involvement in human rights advocacy.

In 2019, he protested against the continued detention of Omoyele Sowore at the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja after he was granted bail by the court.

He led a protest against insecurity, bad governance and corruption and also called on former President Muhammadu Buhari to resign from office.
