It was gathered that some gunmen attacked Porsche Nightclub on Sunday night and kidnapped the owner of the club.
The police in Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, have confirmed recovering some bodies (exact number not disclosed) of vigilantes and others who were killed by gunmen in a nightclub in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that some gunmen attacked Porsche Nightclub on Sunday night and kidnapped the owner of the club.
However, there was resistance by security guards attached to the club.
Following the resistance by the security guards and some vigilantes, there was a heavy shootout that led to the killing of some of the guards and vigilantes.
An unspecified number of people were also wounded.
It was gathered that the gunmen also beheaded one of the vigilantes.
When contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident said that personnel of the state police command had recovered the bodies of the vigilantes killed during the attack.
He said the command has deployed police officers to the area but no arrest has been made yet.
The police spokesperson said, “Yes, the incident happened. Our men were alerted and they quickly moved to the scene of the incident, but the gunmen had already fled.
“Our men have recovered the bodies of the vigilante operatives who were fatally wounded, while others sustained various degrees of injury.
“We have also fully deployed our men to Oba and operation is ongoing. So far, no arrest has been made.”
