December 21, 2023

They are identified as Kosisochukwu Ochiora aged 25, Agbo Daniel (a.k.a. Ara) aged 25, Ani Samuel aged 17, and Okolo Ndukanachi aged 24.

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested one Henry Agbo Ogbonna, a former Councillor, Ikiriki Ward 6 in the Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State for being a member and sponsor of cultism.

Ogbonna, who is currently serving as the Senior Special Assistance on Works to the Executive Chairman of Enugu South, was arrested by operatives of the anti-cultism tactical squad of the command, in November 2023, alongside four other members of a dreaded Vikings Confraternity.

They are identified as Kosisochukwu Ochiora aged 25, Agbo Daniel (a.k.a. Ara) aged 25, Ani Samuel aged 17, and Okolo Ndukanachi aged 24.

The Command's spokesman DSP Daniel Ndukwe, who disclosed their arrest in a statement on Thursday, said that the command in its efforts to clamp down on unrepentant criminal elements in the state also arrested three people for the offences of conspiracy, armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.

Ndukwe said that six firearms, 16 live cartridges, and a snatched motor vehicle were recovered from the suspects.

Giving a breakdown of the arrest, the Command's spokesman said that the operatives serving in the Abakpa Police Division of the Command, on December 6, in collaboration with the Neighbourhood Watch Group, at about 9.30 p.m arrested one 27-year-old Ndubuisi Ugochukwu Eze Oboro.

"The suspect and cohorts, who escaped, had attacked their male victim, dispossessed him of his phones and snatched his Toyota Camry car in the process. But they were on the verge of escaping when operatives swooped on them, arrested the suspect, and recovered one (1) locally made double-barreled pistol and the vehicle."

On the arrest of the Councillor, Ndukwe said that investigation had revealed that in the month of November 2023, he and his gang perfected "plans to avenge the attack on one of their members by a notorious member of a rival cult group, Apache Tiger (also known as Two-two). This is before the operatives swung into action and arrested them."

He quoted the State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, to have reaffirmed the commitment of the police in the state to continuously clamp down on unrepentant criminal elements in the State.

He said the suspects would be charged once investigations were concluded.
