The Nigerian Army has said that about 16 people were killed by gunmen in Mushu community of Plateau State, Northcentral region of the country.

This was announced by AFP in a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter which quoted OPSH spokesperson, Captain Oya James as their source.

 

It was learned that 16 persons were killed by the suspected gunmen when they invaded the village.

 

He added that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General AE Abubakar, had directed that more troops should be deployed to the affected communities to avoid further breakdown of law and order.

 

AFP wrote: “#BREAKING 16 people killed in an attack in Nigeria: army.”

 

“#UPDATE Sixteen people were killed in northcentral Nigeria's Plateau State, where clashes between herders and farmers are common, the army says. The attack occurred in the village of Mushu, Captain Oya James tells AFP,” it added.

 

Reacting, the state governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the brutal attacks in a press statement issued in Jos by his director of press and public affairs, Gyang Bere.

 

He said he had directed security agencies to promptly apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the deadly attacks.
