Tinubu strongly condemned the “heinous and brutal attacks” that have claimed over 90 lives and seen the burning of several houses.

President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to find and apprehend all the assailants involved in the attacks on Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau State on Christmas Eve.

Tinubu strongly condemned the “heinous and brutal attacks” that have claimed over 90 lives and seen the burning of several houses.

SaharaReporters reported earlier that the Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police Force said that no fewer than 86 persons had been killed with 221 houses completely burnt down during the Christmas Eve attacks by gunmen in the state.

A statement by the Command's spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, said the attacks were carried out by the assailants in 15 communities of Bokkos and Barkin Ladi local government areas of the state.

Alabo, in the statement issued on Tuesday on behalf of the state police commissioner, Okoro Alawari, also disclosed that the criminals burnt eight vehicles during the attacks.

Reacting to the killings, Tinubu in a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, directed security agencies to find and apprehend the culprits.

He said, “I strongly condemn the heinous and brutal attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, which have tragically resulted in the loss of many lives.

“I have directed our security agencies to immediately move in, scour every part of the zone, and apprehend the culprits responsible for these atrocities.

“Furthermore, I have ordered the immediate mobilization of relief resources for the surviving victims of these primitive and cruel attacks, as well as ensuring medical treatment is provided for the wounded.

“While condoling with the government and the people of Plateau State, I assure all Nigerians that the envoys of death, pain, and sorrow responsible for these acts will not escape justice.”
