Nigeria Central Bank Worker, Three Others Killed As Gunmen Attack Supermarket In Nasarawa

It was learnt that the incident happened around 8.45 pm at Wisdom Supermarket at Adehi Bus Stop, One Man Village in the Karu Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.

No fewer than four people have been reportedly killed by some gunmen suspected to be armed robbers in Nasarawa State.

An eyewitness said four armed men stormed the supermarket and started shooting indiscriminately.

 

The gunmen demanded valuables and cash from terrified shopkeepers and customers in the store.

 

"The manager hid under a table and therefore escaped being killed. One of those killed was identified as a staff member of the Central Bank of Nigeria," the source said.

 

However, the Nasarawa State police spokesman, Rahman Nansel who confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters confirmed that four persons were killed in the incident.

 

He explained that the CP had directed the Deputy Commissioner to move to the scene for a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

 

He said, "The incident happened yesterday around 8.45 pm. Information was received that some four unidentified armed men stormed Wisdom supermarket at Adehi, Karu local government area. The gunmen opened fire on customers, and as a result, four people were shot.

 

"Upon the receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shehu Umar Nadada deployed operatives to the scene, where four people were evacuated to Maraba Medical Center, and doctors confirmed the four people dead. Their corpses have been deposited in a mortuary at the same hospital for autopsy.

 

"The Commissioner of Police has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigative Department in Lafia to move to the scene and carry out a comprehensive investigation into the case."
