Take-It-Back Movement Plans Protest Over Government Amenities In Gwagwalada Council Of Abuja

The pro-democracy group decried the state of near complete absence of governance in Gwagwalada Area council.

 

The Take-It-Back Movement (TIB), a pro-democracy group, has announced its plan to protest against the deteriorating state of infrastructure in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

A statement issued on Thursday, by the Gwagwalada Chapter of the movement which was signed by Manasseh Ben Paul, said that the protest scheduled for January 5, was aimed to remind and demand immediate action regarding the state of the Gwagwalada Market Road, other deteriorating roads, and poor infrastructure within the Council.

The pro-democracy group decried the state of near complete absence of governance in Gwagwalada Area council.

The statement partly read: "We write to bring public attention to the pressing matters concerning the deteriorating state of infrastructure in Gwagwalada, particularly the Gwagwalada Market Road and other critical roads and infrastructures.

"To this end, we will be protesting alongside the Concerned Citizens of Kutunku. This protest is scheduled for 5th January 2024 at the Gwagwalada Area Council.

"This protest aims to remind and demand immediate action regarding the state of the Gwagwalada Market Road, other deteriorating roads, and poor infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of our Formal Information and Observation (FIO) letters sent since 2018 and the most recent ones in 2023."

TIB however demanded for immediate "repair of Gwagwalada Market Road and all other roads before the rainy season; and ensuring Accountability and Transparency in the Leadership of Gwagwalada".
