Three Victims Died While Trying To Escape From Abductors In Kogi – Nigerian Senator Laments

No fewer than three people have reportedly lost their lives while trying to escape from their abductors’ den, between Idofin and Isanlu settlements in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Karimi, disclosed this on Friday in Lokoja, noting that more than six people had been kidnapped in the past 48 hours within the affected areas.

The Senator who expressed concerns over the lingering kidnapping incident in the axis, without response from the security operatives, called on the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bertrand Onuoha, and the Director, Department of State Services (DSS) to beef up the security in the areas.

He said; “Three people also lost their lives in Idofin and Isanlu in an attempt to escape from the kidnappers’ den, he said in a statement.

“We cannot go to our farms again, nor travel out anyhow. People are being abducted every day, particularly since last week with ransom being paid to the abductors. Many kidnapped victims are yet to be seen,” said Olajuwon Olamide, a resident of Isanlu.

Karimi commended the state governor’s efforts in making lives and properties safe in the state. While he urged Commissioner of Police and the DSS boss to rise to the occasion, by doing the needful in curbing the spate of kidnapping in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The state police command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, promised to get details of the incident as claimed by the senator.
