The former lawmaker said this shortly after the appellate court’s decision and described the ruling as “a redemption deferred for Deltans”.

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege to seek the nullification of the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori’s election in 2023.

The apex court also upheld the election of Oborevwori as the state governor and dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party.

SaharaReporters reported in November 2023 that former Deputy Senate President and APC governorship candidate in Delta State, Ovie Omo-Agege, had vowed to approach the Supreme Court to overturn the Court of Appeal judgement which affirmed the election of Governor Oborevwori.

Similarly, the appellate court, in a separate judgment, dismissed the appeal filed by the Labour Party and its governorship candidate, Ken Pela, challenging the tribunal’s judgment and upholding the election of Oborevwori.

The former lawmaker said this shortly after the appellate court’s decision and described the ruling as “a redemption deferred for Deltans”.

He said that "the judiciary which I have absolute confidence in will, at the final hurdle, serve justice and redemption now deferred."

He expressed confidence that “revered Justices of the Supreme Court will examine the areas overlooked at the Appeal Court and give justice to our people”.

However, the apex court on Friday ruled that Omo-Agege’s case lacked merit.

Apart from APC, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Labour Party and their candidates contested the election of Oborevwori as Delta State Governor.
