The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, who disclosed the rescue operation in a statement issued through the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the victim was being treated in the hospital and would be reunited with family soon.

Adeh said that the operation which took place on Sunday morning was led by police operatives attached to Iddo Divisional headquarters in what she described as a continued effort to rid the FCT of criminality.

The police on Saturday night rescued five sisters who were held hostage after being kidnapped in Abuja.

They were taken from their home in Abuja earlier this month, along with another sister who was later killed.

Six sisters including Nabeeha were abducted along with their father in their house in Abuja on January 2. The abduction sparked outrage in the country.

Nabeeha was later killed by the kidnappers when the family could not pay the ransom demanded.

Nigerians on social media lamented the escalating insecurity in the country and started a donation campaign to raise money for the ransom to secure the release of the remaining five sisters from their abductors.
