Nigeria Police ‘Raid Kidnappers’ Den In Nasarawa, Rescue 14 Victims’

It was learnt that the victims were rescued at Ukya village via Nasarawa state bordering FCT, on Wednesday at about 5: 30pm.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command says its anti-kidnapping squad has rescued 14 kidnapped victims.

 

It was learnt that the victims were rescued at Ukya village via Nasarawa state bordering FCT, on Wednesday at about 5: 30pm.

 

SP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, made this known in a statement on Thursday, noting that police personnel neutralised one of the kidnappers while the rest fled to a nearby forest with bullet wounds.

She explained that the hostages who were rescued unhurt had since been reunited with their loved ones.

The statement reads in part, "Police operatives of the Command attached to the Anti -kidnapping unit and the Rubochi Division Police Headquarters in the continued fight against kidnapping in FCT, rescued 14 kidnapped victims on 24/01/2024 at about 0530 hrs.

"The combined team, acting on credible intelligence stormed a Kidnapper's den located at Ukya village via Nasarawa state bordering FCT, on sighting the police operatives, the hoodlums engaged the open fire on the police operatives which resulted in a gun duel, the police operatives neutralised one of the kidnappers as the rest scampered to a nearby forest with various degrees of bullet wounds.

 

"The hostages who were rescued unhurt have since been reunited with their loved ones.”

 

"The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, psc,  wishes to reiterate his commitment to rid FCT of Criminality in all its manifestations and maintenance of peace for all and sundry.
