Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has confirmed the return of 207 Ukrainian prisoners of war from Russia in a prisoner swap between Kyiv and Moscow on Wednesday.

President Zelensky, who made the confirmation in a post on X (formerly Twitter) with some photos of the returnees, said, “Our people are back. 207 of them. We return them home no matter what.

“We remember each Ukrainian in captivity. Both warriors and civilians. We must bring all of them back. We are working on it.

“The Ukrainian team has done another excellent job. Budanov, Yermak, Usov, Maliuk, and Klymenko. Well done!”

Kyiv Post reports that Wednesday’s prisoner swap between Ukraine and Russia was the 50th since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The report indicated that the returned servicemen comprised 95 representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 56 National Guardsmen, 26 border guards, 29 soldiers of the Territorial Defense and one representative of the National Police of Ukraine.

Among the released servicemen are defenders of Mariupol, Kherson, fighters from Zmeinyi Island, marines and combat medics.
