Ejiofor also petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, to intervene in the issue and stop the alleged assassination plot.
Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, counsel for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has petitioned Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State over alleged plots by gangs and non-state actors sponsored by millionaire businessman, Emeka Offor to assassinate him.
Ejiofor also petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, to intervene in the issue and stop the alleged assassination plot.
Ejiofor in the petition recalled the invasion of his ancestral home on June 6, 2021, during which his Personal Assistant, Mr Samuel Okoro, was brutally murdered in cold blood by the “invading security agents”, and his lifeless body dumped inside the boot of his (Ejiofor) car and consequently set ablaze in Neni, in the Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Ejiofor said, “Three of my wards were whisked away during this bloody invasion and till date, they are nowhere to be found. This gory development was promptly brought to the attention of your good office via our correspondence dated 10th day of June 2021, but unfortunately, no investigation was conducted to unravel the identities of the security agents involved in these dastardly acts.
“Very pertinent to note, that in the weeks and days leading up to the 6th June, 2021, I got credible information from very reliable sources about some nefarious moves being orchestrated by Emeka Offor to cause harm to my family and I.
“The information remained consistent, which source equally gave comprehensive details of secret meetings between Emeka Offor and Nigeria Security Agents, in preparation for the bloody attack on my peaceful home, up until the unthinkable ultimately happened on the 6th June 2021.
“All these meetings held with those procured to deliver the hatchet job were severally held at the home of Sir Emeka Offor in Oraifite, where the plot was well hatched before its ultimate execution.
“Unfortunately, and to my everlasting regret, I treated this information whimsically and consequently dismissed same.
“I naively believed that Emeka Offor would not carry out his evil plots, as I reasonably believed that he was not above the law and that if I have committed any crime or done anything to him, which I know I have not; there are proper and legitimate channels for him to ventilate his grievances, rather than take laws into his own hands.
“In the wee hours of 6th June, 2021, my house was invaded by a combined team of security agents in the uniforms of the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Army and the State Security Service (SSS).
“During the said murderous invasion, which was clearly captured by CCTV footage I installed in my home, my Personal Assistant- Late Samuel Okoro was gruesomely murdered, and his lifeless body dumped in the boot of my Camry car which was subsequently burnt alongside the body.
“Three of my wards- Felix Okonkwo, Ikenna Chibuike Okafor and Lawrence Ugochukwu, were abducted during this clandestine operation and they are still missing and/or in custody till date, three years after.
“Interestingly, in the fundamental rights suits I initiated for myself and my slain Personal Assistant and my abducted wards respectively, the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Army and SSS denied ever participating in the clandestine and murderous invasion; an ostensible plausible denial that the said clandestine operation may not have been officially sanctioned by these security agencies but was carried out by some compromised agents who were procured by Emeka Offor to do the hatchet job.”
Ejiofor further stated in the petition that Emeka Offor has again started “issuing several threats and boasting that he would ruthlessly deal with me, eliminate me and nothing will happen”.
He continued, “My attention was once again called to these visible threats and concluded an arrangement with criminal gangs that will execute the evil plots.
“During the General Meeting of the Oraifite Improvement Union held on the 26th Day of December, 2023, Emeka Offor publicly threatened to deal with me and that I should watch my back; he further publicly lampooned my father-in-law who was present in the meeting.
“Several other persons who were in various gatherings/forums where he issued threats of what he would do to me, have variously approached me out of their concern for my safety, and informed me of his nefarious plans.”
He said, “On the 31st day of January, 2024, I received from an impeccable and reliable source, a bone-chilling and detailed account of how Emeka Offor has concluded arrangements and hugely paid some criminal elements to assassinate me, and this assassination plot is to happen any time I am in or around the east.
“It is a matter of public knowledge that I have an office in Nnewi, Anambra State and an active law practice in the east, consequently, I am often in the east; thus, eliminating me in the manner planned by Emeka Offor will not be a difficult feat for him to actualise, if permitted by God.
“There is a popular Igbo adage that it is only a tree that heard that it will be cut down and still stood still, however, and fortunately, I am not a tree, and I will not make the same mistake I made in 2021 by keeping quiet and not crying out.
“I am by this letter/SOS formally notifying your good office of the evil plots of Sir Emeka Orakwue Offor against me, my family and those that work for me.
“I further urge you Sir, to intervene in the circumstance and investigate the serious allegations contained herein, and ensure that no harm comes to me, my family and/or workers.
“I am equally not oblivious of the fact that Nigerian Security Agencies are at the beck and call of Sir Emeka Offor, thus eliminating completely any prospect of unbiased investigation, rather, this correspondence may be seen as an opportunity to further strategize with Emeka Offor on how to harm me.
“My belief in the above proposition is predicated on the fact that three years after the bloody invasion of my ancestral home and gruesome murder of my Personal Assistant in the person of Mr. Samuel Okoro and consequent abduction of three of my wards, who are nowhere to be found till date, none of the Nigerian Security Agencies including the offices of the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of State Security Service and Chief of Army Staff, ever investigated my formal complaint to them in respect thereto.
“It is worse still that two years after the judgment of the Federal High court Awka, Anambra State, per NGANJIWA, J, wherein his Lordship directed the Heads of Nigerian Security Agencies to immediately swing into action and identify their personnel involved in this mindless and barbaric act, for appropriate disciplinary measures; none of them has taken any step till date to carry out the directive contained in the order of the court despite being served with the certified true copies of the aforesaid judgment.
“It is in the light of the above situation that I most humbly wish to place your good office on Notice and by extension the world, should Emeka Offor and cohorts succeed in carrying out their evil designs, may God forbid them.”
