APC Candidate, Laguda Leads In Lagos By-Election, Set To Replace Gbajabiamila

Results on the IReV portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that Laguda won in the six wards that made up the Surulere Federal Constituency, PM News reports.

The candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Fuad Laguda, is leading in the Saturday’s by-election in Surulere Federal Constituency, Lagos State.

Results on the IReV portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that Laguda won in the six wards that made up the Surulere Federal Constituency, PM News reports.

As at 6.00pm on Saturday, all results of the 258 polling units have been uploaded, showing that the APC’s candidate won about 98 per cent of the votes cast in the election.

Core challengers, Adeola Adebanjo (Labour Party) and Jerry Afemighie (Peoples Democratic Party) posed no threat to Laguda’s aspiration.

The seat was declared vacant following Femi Gbajabiamila’s resignation to become the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

INEC is yet to officially announce the results of the election.
