A Federal High Court in Lagos State has dismissed a criminal charge preferred against a former Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu, and two others over N21.5billion money laundering.

This was contained in a ruling given by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke on Tuesday morning after he upheld a preliminary objection raised by defence counsel, challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the case because the defendants were serving officers of the military at the time.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arraigned the defendants on an amended 13-count charge of money laundering totalling N21.5 billion.

The defence lawyers contended that because the defendants were still officers at the time, they could only be tried in a court martial.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters had earlier reported how the General Manager of Blue Boulevard Limited, Peter-Kings Osunde, said he transferred the sum of N50million into the personal account of former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu (retd), as gratification for the building projects he executed for the Nigerian Air Force in 2020.

He made the revelation in March 2020 while appearing before the House of Representatives joint committees on Air Force and Justice at the investigative hearing to probe the Nigerian Air Force over a controversial ₦10billion building project owned by Blue Boulevard Limited.

The company had petitioned the House after accusing the military of breach of an agreement they had over a land NAF leased to the company.

Osunde said the Amosu demanded N50million from him as bribe money on the project.
