Anambra State Government Declares Female Lawyer, Adachukwu Wanted For Brutalising House Help

The Anambra State government has declared wanted a legal practitioner, Adachukwu Okafor, who allegedly brutalised her 11-year old house-help in Onitsha, Anambra State.

SaharaReporters reported on Monday that the police in Anambra State, South-East Nigeria launched a manhunt for the fleeing lawyer who allegedly molested an 11-year-old girl identified as Happiness Nwafor.

It had been reported on February 7, that tens of women under the aegis of Umuada Awgu Progressive Association and Umuada Awgu Global, protested against the assault and brutalisation of Miss Nwafor.

Happiness was allegedly brutalised with a hot knife and electric iron by her guardian, Mrs Okafor.

It was also reported that the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye had placed N2million bounty on the fleeing lawyer.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has now declared her wanted.

A statement by the Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Ify Obinabo, joined the Federal government in promising handsome reward to anyone with useful information leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Obinabo said, “Anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of Adachukwu Okafor will be handsomely rewarded."

Meanwhile, the victim, who was rescued by Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Obinabo said her mistress used broken bottle, iron, knife and pistol on her within two weeks of her stay with her.

“She also burnt my clothes before dropping me off stark naked with my relative Ifeoma Muoghalu,” she said.

The Commissioner who was notified of the incident by Defend Your Rights Foundation has vowed to do everything in her power to apprehend the suspect.
