Eight passengers have been reportedly kidnapped in Kogi State when their vehicle on the way from Kabba to Lokoja was intercepted by some gunmen.

The gunmen reportedly flagged down the vehicle along the Oshokoshoko-Obajana-Lokoja road and whisked eight passengers into the bush.

The incident happened around 4.30pm on Saturday. The victims were two women, four men and two students, Daily Trust was told.

A member of the People with Disabilities (PWDs), Kogi State chapter, Elupo Eliazer, said his wife and son were among the victims.

He said the abductors had called and demanded N30m ransom, adding that after negotiation and appeal, the amount was reduced to N2.6m.

“We were travelling to attend our church convention in Lokoja. I decided to follow a different vehicle as the Toyota could not contain all of us; if not, I would have been in the car with her,” he said.

The Kogi State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, who was contacted on the incident, promised to find out and get back.

He did not as of the time of filing this report.
