NEMA spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, in a statement on Sunday, told Channels TV that the looted warehouse was not affiliated with the agency.

The warehouse looted on Sunday by residents of Abuja belongs to the Federal Capital Territory’s Department of Agriculture and not the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

NEMA spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, in a statement on Sunday, told Channels TV that the looted warehouse was not affiliated with the agency.

He, however, sympathised with the owners of the looted facility.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the residents raided and plundered a warehouse that was initially suspected to belong to NEMA at Phase 3 Region of the FCT, Abuja, carting away foodstuffs and other items.

Also, the spokesperson for the FCT Agriculture’s secretariat, Zakari Aliyu, told Channels TV via a text message that the looted warehouse belonged to their agency.

He, however, did not disclose further details on the looted warehouse.

NEMA said it had taken measures to safeguard its facilities nationwide.

“To forestall any security breach at NEMA facilities, the Director General Mustapha Habib Ahmed has directed Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to strengthen security in and around the Agency’s offices and warehouses nationwide,” NEMA said.
