As of Tuesday morning, shares had fallen 1.55 percent but they remain volatile, Mail Online reports.

DownDetector, which monitors online outages, shows hundreds of thousands of Americans are having problems with Facebook and tens of thousands reported the same with Instagram - Messenger has a few thousand issue reports.

Along with the US, the outage has reached the UK, parts of Europe, China, Australia and Mexico.

Facebook's and Messenger's glitches surfaced when users noticed they were kicked out of their accounts and unable to log back in - even with the right credentials.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that billionaire owner of X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk, took a jibe at Meta following the outages.

Musk tweeted, "If you're reading this post, it's because our servers are working."

He also shared a tweet by Meta spokesperson saying, “We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”

Nigerians also lamented outages for the platforms, saying they could not access them.

Users said they were logged out of the social media platforms.

On Facebook, users were logged out of the platform with a message reading, “The password that you’ve entered is incorrect”.

Users got a message saying, “Something went wrong,” on Instagram.

“There’s an issue and the page could not be loaded.”

Meanwhile, social media users on X have been complaining about the development.

Some users of the two social platforms checked whether the X platform (formerly Twitter) was down but were delighted to find out that it was working.
