An unidentified lady has accused personnel of the Nigeria Police Force stationed at Mile 2 in Lagos State of extorting N500,000 from her.

In a video posted on Instablog's micro-blogging platform on Tuesday, the victim alleged that the officers stopped and searched the occupants of a cab she was in, after which they allegedly threatened her and forcibly collected her money.

She claimed that the demand for money came after the officers checked her bag and accused her of smoking and using abortion pills.

The victim while crying said they also threatened to take her to their station if she refused to pay a bribe.

She said, "I was in a cab when they stopped us. They searched me and found a postpill paper in my bag. They said I was into prostitution and I told them I am not, that I haven't used the bag in a while.

"They threatened to call my parents saying that when they find such with ladies, they call their parents. I got nervous.

"They ordered me to enter their bus and they had guns. They accused me of smoking and using abortion pills. They said they were going to take me to their station if I don't settle them.

"They ended up taking the N500,000 that I had with me. This happened around Mile 2, Lagos."

However, when SaharaReporters contacted the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, over the alleged incident, he said the police were awaiting her official complaint so they could investigate the allegations.

"We await her complaint to enable appropriate action as we are yet to identify her too," he said.
