Outbreak Of Strange Disease Reportedly Kills Over 30 Children In Gombe State

An outbreak of a yet-to-be-ascertained disease has claimed over 30 lives in Gombe State, SaharaReporters has learnt.

 

The outbreak was first recorded in a public primary school in the Nafada Local Government Area of the state, according to sources.

 

Communities in the affected area are reportedly frightened by outbreak of the strange infectious disease which started in February 2024. 

 

The disease which has claimed 30 lives of children, aged one to 15 has symptoms of fever, headache, stomachache, vomiting, swollen legs, among others.

 

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters learnt that 11 samples taken from 20 patients on suspected meningitis from the General hospital Nafada, turned negative, causing more scare among health workers.

 

The spokesperson for the hospital, Kefas Silanda, has confirmed the outbreak and how doctors and other health workers were battling it.
