Zamfara Community Residents Flee As Bandits, Security Operatives Engage In Fresh Gun Battle

SaharaReporters learnt that the bandits invaded the community on Wednesday night but they were confronted by security operatives and members of a vigilante group recently launched by the state governor, Mr Dauda Lawal.

 

Some residents of Kaura Namoda town in Zamfara State on Thursday morning began to leave their community after a fierce gun battle between bandits and security operatives in the area.

SaharaReporters learnt that the bandits invaded the community on Wednesday night but they were confronted by security operatives and members of a vigilante group recently launched by the state governor, Mr Dauda Lawal.

A video obtained from a resident of the community, Hassan Kaura, captured the sound of gunshots while the bandits and the security personnel exchanged gunfire.

Kaura was the incident had caused trauma for most residents, particularly children.

It was learned the residents had started relocating to neighbouring communities pending the time the unrest would be over and the return of normalcy to the area.

 

 

SaharaReporters had reported how some bandits last Monday launched an attack on communities located along Gabake Mesa – Kaura Road in the Kaura Namoda local government area of the state.

 

SaharaReporters learned that no fewer than three people were killed during the attack.

 

Two weeks ago, seven people were reportedly killed by bandits who attacked the divisional headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Zurmi town, the headquarters of the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
