One of them stated that the institution now gave insufficient food to students and in many instances left the students alone to struggle for what to eat because the caterer did not cook their breakfast.

Students of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, professionally known as cadets, have lamented persistent hunger in the institution, due to irregular feeding and reduction of their food sizes by the school authorities.

Some of the cadets told SaharaReporters that a new caterer identified only as CSP Funke who was hired by the current commandant, AIG Abubakar Sadik has allegedly been living fat on all the money allocated for feeding the students.

One of them stated that the institution now gave insufficient food to students and in many instances left the students alone to struggle for what to eat because the caterer did not cook their breakfast.

The source said, “As it is right now, the Commandant brought a new caterer, in charge of the Cadets 3 square meal. Her name is CSP Funke, driving a Highlander Jeep.

“The issue with her was that, she reduced the quantity of the Cadets' food. She made life to be difficult for cadets. She can even tell you to go and report that nothing will happen to her even if you report her.

“The committee of the kitchen consists of lower ranks policemen, members of the academic wing etc. But this man removed the lower ranks policemen and the members of the academic wing from the kitchen so that the woman will have chance to do as she pleases.

“As of now, anytime they are serving cadets food, she will be in the dining watching over everything and telling the civilians to be reducing the quantity of the food there.”

The source added that “for the Regular Course 7, they are 1415 in number. But she will make a provision of food of just 700-800 cadets. And she will instantly tell the rest that there is no food and nothing they can do about it.”

“Sir, I swear to my living God last week she did not serve most of us breakfast. Some of us took garri before going out,” one of the students lamented.

They therefore urged President Bola Tinubu and other relevant authorities to come to their aid by intervening in the matter.

“We want the Presidency, Minister of Police Affairs, IGP of Police, and all other organizations should please come to the aid of the cadets and to please involved non-policemen to investigate both the Commandant (AIG Sadik) and the caterer (CSP Funke),” the source added.

The police academy has yet to react to the allegations made by the students as efforts to reach them failed.
