President Tinubu Says No Dime Will Be Paid As Ransom To Rescue Kidnapped Children

SaharaReporters reported on March 7, 2024, that some terrorists stormed LGEA Primary School, Kuriga (1) on Thursday morning and kidnapped scores of pupils and teachers.

President Bola Tinubu has vowed to rescue all the children and other victims kidnapped by terrorists in Kaduna and Sokoto states without any payment of ransom. 

SaharaReporters reported on March 7, 2024, that some terrorists stormed LGEA Primary School, Kuriga (1) on Thursday morning and kidnapped scores of pupils and teachers.

The incident which reportedly happened at about 8:20 am immediately after the morning assembly, forced residents to scamper to safety as the hoodlums shot indiscriminately.

On March 9, it was reported that bandits had kidnapped an unspecified number of Tsangaya students at Gidan Bakuso in Gada local government area of Sokoto state.

 

Later the number of the abducted students was confirmed to be 15.

 

However, addressing a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa Abuja, President Tinubu ruled out payment of any ransom to kidnappers.

The President reiterated his directive to the defence ministry to ensure that the children are rescued and returned safely to their homes.

 

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris, conveyed the decision of the president while briefing reporters at the end of the meeting on Wednesday.

 

Idris quoted the president as having maintained his stance against the payment of ransom to kidnappers to free the children.

 

According to the minister, the President stated the resolve of his administration to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the country.

 

According to him, under the current government, kidnapping, especially mass abduction will not be tolerated.
