The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has told the Federal High Court in Abuja that there is a conspiracy to allow him to die at the Department of State Services (DSS) detention facility.

SaharaReporters reported earlier that Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Tuesday, dismissed the fresh application filed by the IPOB leader seeking his release on bail. This is pending the determination of the charge the Nigerian government preferred against him.

Justice Nyako instead opted for an accelerated hearing of the government's seven-count charge against him.

But Kanu asked to be moved from his solitary confinement in the DSS facility in Abuja to Kuje prison.

According to him, he is ill and the DSS facility has no medical facility to treat him.

He said, “People will come to see me but they will not allow them. They don’t have a medical facility.

“I have congestive heart failure. They are patching me up. My foot is swollen. I asked them to conduct surgery, and they said they couldn’t. There is a conspiracy to die in detention. I want to be transferred to Kuje.”
