The suspension was done by the Enugu State chapter of the party over Mrs Tor’s alleged anti-party activities.
The Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission, Mrs Ginika Tor, has faulted her suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The suspension was done by the Enugu State chapter of the party over Mrs Tor’s alleged anti-party activities.
SaharaReporters reported on March 19 that the South East Zonal Executive Committee of the APC had ratified the suspension of Mrs Tor by the state chapter of the party for alleged gross misconduct, anti-party activities, and an attempt to create a parallel executive of the party in the state.
However, after the Zonal Executive Committee meeting of the party in Enugu, on Tuesday, a statement signed by the National Vice Chairman of APC South East, Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu, said the zonal leadership of the party had considered the report of the Enugu State chapter of the party suspending Mrs Tor and had ratified the suspension.
According to the statement, Mrs Tor on March 10, 2024, allegedly engaged in anti-party activities and published statements whose purpose was to bring the leadership of APC Enugu and the Enugu State Executive into "disrepute, contempt, hatred and public ridicule".
But reacting to the suspension, Mrs Tor who spoke to SaharaReporters on the telephone, described the suspension as a "nullity".
She added that she was not given a fair hearing as she was not informed of the accusations, let alone invited to state her side of the matter.
"The purported suspension is illegal, null and void," she said, adding that expelling her is like expelling the president from the party. "They are not genuine APC members. The chairman of APC Enugu, Chief Ugochukwu Agballah was not an APC member. The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji was not an APC member, they were all both imposed on us.”
She continued, "They are jokers. To say you expel me is like expelling the president. They should bring proof of where they worked for the president. For me, I don't need proof because the whole world saw me working for the president.
“I was the first Igbo that came out, and I am the only one that raised a group called Igbo Kwenu for Asiwaju/Shettima. I toured 36 states. They did nothing and on the day of the election, I mentioned Asiwaju in my unit.
"I secured over 4,000 votes in my polling unit. I have the proof I can send to you, let them send theirs so that we will know who should be expelled. They have come to destroy the party in Enugu State, a party that we built.”
"You are calling people anti-party when you are the one that is anti-party. I can never be anti-party; I have never been antipathy," she added.
