The Rivers State House of Assembly on Saturday threatened to resume impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to uphold the Constitution.

The Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, flanked by 26 of his colleagues made this known at a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Saturday, while accusing the governor of dishonesty.

The lawmakers accused the governor of refusing to hold up to his end of the Presidential Peace Accord which he wilfully signed without coercion.

They explained that they withdrew their impeachment notice against Governor Fubara out of respect for President Bola Tinubu and a hope that the governor would have a change of heart.

This is as the 27 lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, took a swipe at the former Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council led by Dr Abiye Sekibo over its recent attack on Wike.
