Lawyer Cries Out Over Govt Neglect Of Ogun Farming Communities, Lack Of Good Roads, Others; Says No Electricity In 20 Years

According to a statement issued by the lawyer on behalf of the communities on Sunday, the communities whose major occupation is farming have been facing a dearth of social amenities including electricity and road networks for over two decades.

A legal practitioner, Oladotun Hassan Esq, has lamented the neglect of Imobi, Oki Gbode and Itasin communities in the Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State by the state government. 

According to a statement issued by the lawyer on behalf of the communities on Sunday, the communities whose major occupation is farming have been facing a dearth of social amenities including electricity and road networks for over two decades. 

According to the statement, the situation is affecting farming in the state.

He, therefore, urged the state governor, Mr Dapo Abiodun to swiftly come to the aid of the dwellers of the affected communities. 

The statement reads: “20 Years Power Outage: Urgent Call To Prince Dapo Abiodun Over Abandoned Massive Agricultural Land Mass At Imobi, Oki Gbode and Itasin Communities of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State. 

 

“Going by the anthem of Ogun State, Omo Ogun Iseya × 2, while it is renowned Agricultural hub of Southwest Nigeria via its popular slogan: Ise A'gbe, Ise Ilewa. 

 

“Regrettably, one cannot be bold to be proud of the ancient towns of Imobi, Oki Gbode and Itasin and other adjoining Communities within Ijebu South Local Government Area of Ogun State due to her gross dilapidated road networks, lack of basic infrastructural amenities and most heroine is the power outage for over 20 years, consequently impeding her verse Agricultural potentials such as cassava, banana, palm oil, cocoa plantations and untapped fisheries opportunities, capable of guaranteed adequate food security and solutions for job creation opportunities for the army of unemployed youths of the aforementioned areas, if maximally harnessed. 

 

“We are aghast to demand urgent intervention for power supply and repairs of the transformers, construction of good road networks and exploring the Agricultural land base of thousands of hectares of land ready for onward accelerated economic growth, based on the comparative advantages for Ebute Imobi, Oki Gbode and Itasin Communities portends for Ogun State and Nigeria.

“These communities are seriously yearning for intervention and accelerated approval by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun The Executive Governor of Ogun State's timely response accordingly. 

 

“We by this open clarion call, plead with the Government of Ogun State to urgently step in to solve this monumental stalemate once and for all.”
