The Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) has reportedly killed a police officer whom the terrorists abducted along Damboa – Biu Road in Borno State.

They, however, released his wife and children who were kidnapped alongside him.

According to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the police officer, his wife and children, were abducted on April 7 at about 10 pm while they were on transit from Damboa to Biu for Eid break but unfortunately went through a banned route.

They were reportedly abducted by suspected ISWAP fighters around Shokotoko general area located approximately 73km south of Damboa.

However, the wife and his children were later released in the evening, while the police officer was killed by the terrorists.

When contacted, the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahun Daso Kenneth, told SaharaReporters that he was not aware of the incident but promised to contact his second-in-command for verification as he was currently not in the state.

He promised to get back to our reporter but had not done so at the time of filing this report.
