Two suspected agitators who claimed to belong to the Yoruba Nation have been arrested by security personnel for their alleged role in the invasion of the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi in Ibadan, the state capital.

An old man with grey air and a middle-aged man bearing Yoruba Nation flags whose identities could not be confirmed as of press time were arrested by the police on Saturday.

Earlier, some Yoruba Nation agitators had, on Saturday morning, invaded the Secretariat and taken over some parts of the area.

The security operatives did not allow reporters to interview them but the aged man was heard claiming he was the father of the Yoruba Nation.

The suspects have been taken to the State Police Command in Eleyele, Ibadan, for further questioning.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that a prominent Nigerian historian, Prof. Banji Akintoye stated that neither he nor the Yoruba Nation agitators were responsible for the invasion of the Oyo State Government House on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capital.

Also, the Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, more commonly called Sunday Igboho, had disowned the group which invaded the government house.
