Hundreds of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) candidates on Saturday were stranded and unable to sit for their examination at a computer-based test centre.

The centre is located at Destiny CBT centre, Plot 1-4, Ramat Isuaman crescent off Golden block junction, Olorunsogo - Ayobo, in Alimosho, Lagos.

In videos obtained by SaharaReporters on Facebook and uploaded by Edafe Oghenebrume, candidates were heard claiming that they were denied the opportunity to write their exams because the facility's generator was unable to power the centre and source electricity.

“All their laptops had been shut down. The generator they used was not good and there was no light,” a narrator in one of the videos said.

SaharaReporters had also reported how JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, assured that there would be rescheduling for those candidates that missed their examinations on Friday.

It had been gathered that some candidates lamented glitches they encountered while writing the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

He promised that all students who had challenges due to technical difficulties would have their exams rescheduled.

Speaking after overseeing the exam at Kogo-Bwari, Abuja, Prof. Oloyede stated that thus far, the UTME ran successfully, with only one centre reporting problems on Friday. However, many centres including Destiny CBT centre started developing more technical issues which had cost the candidates not to sit for their exams at fixed time.
